Benefit to Pastors

Both visitors and many church members assess the pastor primarily for his preaching ability.  According to Thom Rainer’s research, previously unchurched visitors attending services view the preaching as a key factor in their decision whether to return to the church.  

The pressure from these high expectations, combined with the relentless frequency of weekly services, creates for many pastors “the tyranny of the coming Sunday.”  Add the countless, diverse demands on a pastor, and too many weeks there simply isn’t time to get it all done. 

Docent’s research does not replace the pastor’s study time.  Rather, it brings on board a team of research allies whose work can creatively and diligently complement the pastor’s own work.  The customized research is further personalized by the regular communication between the pastor and the Docent team captain.

Benefit to the congregation

Worshippers will benefit by experiencing a pastor who is able to deliver better sermons and/or a pastor able to spend more time on other responsibilities. The church will also have a pastor who is refreshed in the pulpit and because he has allies that come alongside and render excellent assistance.
